Now everyone is on the “expensive everything is best” bandwagon including McInstosh.

albsavoia said in October 7th, 2009 at 4:55 pm

Look for the MDA1000 review already on YouTube. Search for “MDA1000 review”

drmbetancourt said in October 8th, 2009 at 11:59 pm

Great review! I’m sold. Just one question, do you have any experience with the MDA1000? (most of my audio sources are high bit rate (320 kbs) digital files.)

Alberto, this is a great review – your style is highly infectious. Just got myself a c220pre – looking to inject some mcintosh smooth /lush sound into my system

JOHN BONHAM! YESSSSSSS!

crabsyman said in October 15th, 2009 at 6:18 am

Alberto, What do you use for interconnects and speaker cable? Thanks again

crabsyman said in October 17th, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Alberto, I know classical music reaaly well. It is my first love. If you want to know my humble opinion on classical recordings I’d be thrilled to offer them. Thanks again

crabsyman said in October 19th, 2009 at 4:18 am

Thank you for courteous and prompt response. I respect your opinion very much. I am home bound with cancer and watch your videos often for your wonderful personality and info. My name is Rossetti and think your Italian accent is great to hear. Reminds me of my grandparents. If I could I’d buy the same system. The Sonus Fabers are darker sounding and a great match for Macs. Try Dynaudio too, they’re great speakers. Have some ravioli for me, OK? God Bless and I look forward to more reviews. Grazia

What’s so confusing? This is like asking: “If a Ferrari handles so well, why do you need to spend $3,000 on fancy tires?” Are you saying that anyone who one has warm and luscious amp or speakers can ignore the quality of the source? You are listening to the sound of the entire audio chain: recorded material -> source component -> pre/amp -> speaker.

crabsyman said in October 23rd, 2009 at 4:01 am

A little confused please. If the sound is so warm and luscious why the need for an $8,000 DAC? Seems confusing to me, please. Thanks

crabsyman said in October 24th, 2009 at 6:02 pm

How about a review of the cd player? Thank you

teflondon91 said in October 25th, 2009 at 9:36 pm

great job… try using the mcintosh power amps and report back vs. the solid state ones… the sound is usually more lush!

rafaspinola said in October 26th, 2009 at 1:56 am

Great job, man! The video, the info, and, of course, your equipment. Congratulations!

papydasy said in October 28th, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I enjoyed your video,very interesting,

ronnie9191 said in October 30th, 2009 at 9:21 am

Hey Alberto, that was a very nice review. The best thing I liked about it was that after spending on the music system that you always wanted, you are enjoying the sound it delivers, to me thats what is most important. Nice review mate. And by the way I never know anything about Mcintosh’s but today, I know what I am looking for.

oooowwwwdddd said in October 30th, 2009 at 7:53 pm

Mines is so much better. I have a BSR turntable that was PRECISION BUILT IN GREAT BRITAIN. It plays 78s and has a big stylus that has 2 NEEDLES IN ONE! It sounds better than this junk with my Soundesign speaker! It has 475 watts on the back so its so much better than this one. The man at Sears said it’s a good one

bobdog43 said in October 31st, 2009 at 8:13 pm

I love your enthusiasm & passion, congrats, Alberto. I do not have much experience with Mac but, I have a lot of experience with the Meridian, mrnatron, and if you want to talk over-priced, over-hyped mediocre (at best) gear, get yourself a pair of Meridian digital-active speakers and prepare to be disappointed. I do have to admit, the Meridian does have a nice feature-set & a form-factor I like. Just crap otherwise.

psychomat64 said in November 1st, 2009 at 6:16 am

Very nice review ! I use Symphonice Line amps. What’s the rest of your system?? Rgds

xsamitt said in November 1st, 2009 at 11:54 pm

I hope you do more video’s.I am looking into buying Mcintosh soon myself.I have B&W 802D’s and will get the 501′s to run them. As well as the MC303 for the center and the rears.

Fergunul said in November 5th, 2009 at 3:12 am

Hi Alberto,

I too am an audiophile and used to sell Mcintosh equipment when I was in university. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that the best sound came from a tube pre amp and a solid state main amp. I myself have even gone down the road of DIY and made my own set up and can assure that this is the best way of setting up your system if you have the money. Keep the reviews comming.

uabazz said in November 5th, 2009 at 11:30 pm

Hi Alberto,
…the Macs are so cool!
Do you know that new Italian web-site martinrecs ?
They have been mentioned in a forum as best audiophile store and as it seems on their site the prices are very good.
Thx!
Ulrich

Very nice :)

mrnatron said in November 8th, 2009 at 7:54 am

I would spend my money on a Meridian system and rock balls all over this overpriced snooze box…

Lilyworks said in November 8th, 2009 at 8:27 am

Hello Alberto,
Can you give me an idea as to what I would pay retail for this this C220/MC252 combo?
Lily
