There is an adjustment ***** on one side of the tape head. The other side is usually fixed. The adjustable one has a spring under
it, so it should be obvious which one to adjust.
The first thing you should to is clean the head and tape path, then demagnetize it.
To adjust azimuth, without a special alignment tape, play an original tape that has plenty of high notes, and adjust the ***** for the best treble frequencies.
