Fisher asked:
I have a JBL JRX 115. the woofer is 8 ohms, and the HF driver is 4 ohms. the crossover is made so that it all is 8 ohms nominal. What happens to the cross over if I replaced the HF driver as 8 ohms? the cross over is 1.6khz @ 4 ohms for the High frequency driver. does the crossover double? or divide in half? thank you.

The crossover frequencies will not change, but the impedance mismatch can cause problems:
1) Loss of efficiency
2) Change the filter response curve–there may be peaks in the pass-band or larger irregularities.
There is a good chance that these effects would not be noticeable, so it may be worth a try.
