Marshall 9001 Rackmount Tube Preamp, know anything about it?

I didnt get a chance to play much with it, but for the little bit I did I like it quite a bit. Does/has anyone own/used one of these or can someone just tell me some things about it? Thanks.
The balance knob is broken off and its a little beat up, but other than that it all works. I can always replace the balance pot myself if I come to needing it.

It also might help to note that im a heavy metal player (power, progressive, neoclassical). I dont need something terribly brutal, just something with a nice crunch to it and a good solo sound.

60 bucks?? Does it need any repair?? I’d say it’s a total steal for 60.00 if it’s working. If you do buy, spend some money and have a tech look it over. That with a decent tube or solid state power amp and you’d be rockin. From what I’ve heard, the JMP-1 is the holy grail preamp and a lot of big names use the JMP-1 like Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest but the 9001 isn’t bad at all based on user reviews I’ve read. The 9001 was in production from 1989 upto 1993. It was a 3 channel pre amp containing 3 ECC83/12AX7 tubes.
