I'm amazed at how great a relatively inexpensive CD player can sound these days! Even cheaper CDP's have quality internal D/A converters for the most part.

You are using the LD MK as a preamp, right? How does it sound with headphones?

Yes, primarily as a line preamp with my CD player as a source. It sounds fantastic with my Sennheiser 595's as well. Amazingly, the sound one gets with the preamp is similar to the sound signature heard via good headphones. If you only require a tubed line preamp, the MKIII is an immense steal!
