I want to hook my xbox 360 to my marantz 5003 receiver for surround sound. Any help would be brilliant?

I have component cable for video and toslink for audio. Can I put the component video into the receiver and run the digital audio from the xbox into the receiver digital audio in? It seems like I can only choose one receiver source – eg component, HDMI, etc. So if I choose component for the xbox video, how do I can the digital sound from the receiver? Sorry about the poor explanation – I’m new to this!

No need to pass-through component video through the receiver, but even if you do, I am sure there is a way to associate an optical audio input with a particular video source. read your receiver’s manual.

If your receiver doesn’t have upconverting component to HDMI, you should connect component directly to TV and optical ( Toslink ) from Xbox to receiver for audio.
