asked:

So many questions.

1st.
Can I plug two heads into the same cab, at the same time? I know that there are impedence and stereo issues if you want to use them both at the same time, but could you have two set up with one head, but only play one at a time?

2nd.
Can I plug two guitars into the same head, using the High and Low gain inputs? 1st, as above, just to have a second guitar ready to go (just out of curiosity–I can’t truly imagine it being that advantageous), and 2nd if I want to jam with a buddy on one amp?

3rd.
I have a tube amp, and quite regularly, after about 15 mins of playing a hum will gradually get louder, and remain, even if I unplug my guitar. If I give the side of the head a medium slap will fix the problem temporarily (think old school slap to the side of a television to fix the picture), but then of course return eventually. I know jack diddly about tubes and can’t find any of this same problem online. Anybody have a clue what it could be? Microphonic/noisy preamp tube?

4th.
When daisychaining two cabs from one head, do you have to change the impedance on the amp? As in… If I want to use two 8 ohm cabs instead of one, do I switch the amp impedence to…4 ohms? (INFO: I only have one cab so far, with settings for 4/16 ohm mono, or 8 ohm stereo) ARRGH I am so ig’nant.

5th.
I have a 120w head, and a 2×12 cab (140w handling). I am very interested in a new head that has 30/15/7w settings. Is there any problem running a 7w amp through the cab? Apart from ohms, is there something I should be looking at to “match” with a cab?

I don’t know much about this stuff and I’m having a hard time finding the specific info herez. Thanks a TON to anybody who can help.

Dividends Blog
